Self-controlled temperature tracing cable, also known as self-limiting electric heating tape, is a new type of strip-shaped constant temperature electric heating product. The self-controlled temperature tracing cable system mainly comprises the following key components:
Wire Core/ Core Tape
The wire core or core tape of the self-controlled temperature tracing cable is its core heating part, mainly composed of PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) material. PTC material has unique resistance characteristics, meaning its resistance value increases significantly as the temperature rises. This material is uniformly extruded between two parallel metal busbars, forming the core tape. When the power is turned on, the current passes through the PTC material layer, transforming electrical energy into thermal energy to heat and maintain the temperature of the system.
Conductive Plastic Layer
This layer contains nano-conductive carbon particles and is a critical part of the self-controlled temperature tracing cable's heating function. As the temperature rises, the polymer molecules in the conductive plastic layer expand, causing the carbon particles to gradually separate, interrupting the circuit and increasing resistance, thus reducing power output and heating. Conversely, when the temperature drops, the polymer molecules contract, connecting the carbon particles to form a circuit, increasing current flow and heating power.
Insulation Layer: Located outside the core tape, this layer prevents current leakage and short circuits, ensuring the safe operation of the heating tape.
Shielding Layer: Usually made of tinned copper wire braid, it provides additional electromagnetic shielding and mechanical protection.
Anti-Corrosion Outer Jacket: The outermost layer, typically made of corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant materials, protects the heating tape from external environmental damage.
Power Connection Components: Used to connect the self-controlled temperature tracing cable to the power supply, ensuring normal current transmission.
T-joints/ Three-way Components: Suitable for connecting two or three heating tapes, facilitating branching and connection in complex systems.
Heating Tape End: The end part of the heating tape, which needs to be properly handled to prevent current leakage and short circuits.
Tie Straps: Used to secure the heating tape to pipes or other heated objects, ensuring close contact between the heating tape and the heated object.
Electric Heating Tape Labels: Used to identify the model, specification, manufacturer, and other information of the heating tape, making it convenient for users to recognize and maintain.
Self-controlled temperature tracing cable has features such as automatic temperature limiting, intelligent regulation, easy installation and maintenance, and energy-saving and environmental protection. It can automatically adjust its output power according to the temperature of the heated object, achieving precise temperature control.
Additionally, the self-controlled temperature tracing cable can be cut or extended as needed, making it convenient for users to install according to actual requirements. Its maintenance is relatively simple, reducing usage costs.
In summary, the self-controlled temperature tracing cable system is a complex system composed of multiple key parts that work together to achieve precise temperature control of the heated system.
